Orangeola weeping japanese maple1/6/2024 Being well drained is the most important part, they do not like wet feet. As with all Japanese maples the soil should be rich in organic matter and well drained. Too much shade and it won’t grow well and you won’t see much color. Orangeola Japanese Maple is not quite as red as many other laceleaf weeping Japanese maples, but the foliage is orange-red when it first emerges in spring. It is more weeping than most selections in its group and. It does well in full sun, but some shade won’t hurt a thing. This is a red lace-leaf, but the new leaves start out orange-red, and then become red as they mature. Orangeola will grow in zones 5 through zones 9. Most all of my dissectum maples I allow to grow in that mushroom shape that they prefer, but I do prune them at least twice a year, just a little to make sure they maintain a really attractive shape. In time it could reach 8′ high, but with regular pruning which I highly recommend I’d say most will be 42″ to 48″ high unless you really want the extra height, then you’d have to stake it upright and train it to grow that way. Unlike most dissectums Orangeola tends to grow a little higher than it does wide. Orangeola is a member of the dissectum family which means that it is laceleaf and a weeping habit. In spring its new lacy leaves emerge bright orange to red. The flowers are arranged in clusters and have a subtle charm that adds to the tree’s aesthetic. They typically have a reddish or purplish hue, complementing the tree’s overall color palette. An absolutely beautiful tree with vivid coloring spring through fall and exceptional sun tolerance, the Orangeola Japanese Maple is a weeping, semi-upright grower to about 8 to 10 feet tall an 8 feet wide. Appearance: The flowers of the Orangeola Japanese Maple are small and delicate, with a somewhat inconspicuous nature. Wanted!
